Trius Winery is a Canadian winemaking pioneer that has been crafting fine VQA wines from premium grapes for over 40 years. Nestled between the Niagara Escarpment and Lake Ontario, we harvest our grapes from four Niagara-on-the-Lake appellations to create distinctive varietals that reflect our region’s unique taste of place.
Trius Winemaker, Craig McDonald, blends art and science to craft award-winning wines using innovative techniques. Our Trius Showcase series features wines from Niagara’s best vineyards made with an unrushed approach to winemaking that shines through in every bottle. Our Trius series wines are smooth and refined reds and whites that showcase the unique, rich terroir of Niagara. Trius Sparkling wines are made in the traditional method, aged in Canada’s largest underground sparkling cellar and always add a little something extra special when they’re poured. As Niagara’s Icewine pioneer, the Trius Icewine collection features varietals that regularly bring home medals from across the globe.

The winery is open on all holidays except for Christmas Day (December 25) and New Year's Day (January 1). Hours are seasonal and subject to change.
WINEMAKER PROFILE
Australian born Craig McDonald leads our winemaking team, crafting VQA wines for Trius Winery. Craig’s talent in crafting premium wines has been honed over 28 vintages in a number of countries, including the U.S.A, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. He has devoted the last 20 vintages to creating award-winning VQA wines in Niagara, and was named Ontario Winemaker of the Year in 2008.
Believing that winemaking starts in the vineyard, Craig looks to our fertile land to inspire and guide his “hands-on” winemaking style: “Being in tune with the vineyard and adapting to the specific growing season is fundamental to our winemaking. Only when we have attained this synchronicity can we then add our personal touch.”
Under Craig’s guidance we look forward to further building Trius’ long standing reputation as an award-winning wine producer and leading wine and food destination in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
