WINEMAKER PROFILE
With his wife Vicki Samaras, Newman founded Hinterland, a sparkling-focused winery, in 2010, and slowly grew his profile as a winemaker in the region. Newman joined The Grange in 2022 to helm the winemaking program. Jonas is thrilled to have the opportunity to craft wine from Grange’s expansive and well established plantings.
“These are 22-year-old vineyards in some spots, some of the oldest vineyards in the County, and I think it’s starting to really show what these soils can do,” Newman says. “My primary job is to respect that.” Jonas Newman
