Colour: Brilliant medium garnet. Nose: Aromas of red cherry, cassis, forest floor, licorice and sage leaf over top scents of toffee, mincemeat and strawberry compote. Palate: Medium bodied and firm in structure; dry and grippy up front with cranberry undertones; the mid-palate seamlessly melds densely packed, fine-grained tannins with extracted blueberry and tart cherry fruit; the finish is forceful yet elegant, driven by a feathery dusting of tannin, juicy red currant notes and hints of orange essence, molasses, Thai basil and peppermint.
Steak frites, coq au vin, butternut squash or lentil-based dishes, lamb tajine, grilled pork sausages, roasted black cod, cajun shrimp and grits.
