The tradition of harvesting the finest grapes and drying them naturally in the open air before being crushed and turned into wine is a very ancient one. Thanks to the Greeks, and later the Romans, it became known that this winemaking process would produce wines of great longevity and aromatic intensity. Magnotta’s own Passito is no exception! Inspired by the famous Passito wines of Italy, ours is produced from specially selected, handpicked, Ontario Vidal grapes and carefully air dried for three weeks before slowly fermented into a deliciously sweet, creamy and full-bodied dessert wine. Delicately fragrant with melon, peach and apricot notes against a backdrop of dried fig and soft floral hints. Its sweetness is beautifully offset and balanced by the alcohol resulting in a lasting, yet clean, finish. Pair this exquisite elixir with mature or creamy cheeses, fresh fruit desserts, fine pastry, white chocolate, roasted nuts or your favourite biscotti.
