Bachelder Les Villages Gamay Noir 2022

The 2022 Les Villages Gamay Noir, blended from parcels of single-vineyard origins, is the very expression of the terroir of Niagara – gulpable and ageable! With the 2022 vintage, quite ruby deep in colour, there are subtle, high-toned nuances of rusty red cranberry/red currants, thrilling minty raspberry tones, and a beam of really ripe sour-red cherries on the attack, with overtones of darker plum and blackberry fruit. The medium-bodied, juicy texture is pure and delicious, with a finish of slatey class and elegance that simply dances. A slight astringency to the light tannins promises delicious development is on the way if one can but wait a few years. All our great terroirs have found their place in this wine that so effortlessly marries balance and tension, blurring the line between easy drinkability and ageability.
