Rockway Vineyards
TASTING NOTES
Light straw in colour with a clear hue. This Gewürztraminer is pretty, with varied and complex aromatics emerging from the glass, delivering a classic spectrum of varietal floral aromas including rose petals, along with ripe orchard fruit, pear and yellow plum, and lychee. Opulent, yet light in body, with flavours which mirror that of the aromatics. Lychee dominating with pear, apricot, and wild honey flavours to follow. This wine leans on the dry side and is balanced with a moderate acidity that lingers through a persistent smooth finish with beautiful tension.
WINEMAKING NOTES
These grapes were harvested from our Estate Vineyard's small 0.81-acre block and gently pressed for the optimum flavour profile. The juice was cold settled for 48 hours before being racked off its lees. The juice was then warmed to 14 degrees and underwent a cool long ferment in stainless steel tanks which allow us to capture the varietal aromas and the pure expression of the Twenty-Mile Bench. Once fermentation finished naturally, the wine was racked off its ferment lees and stabilized, before filtering and bottling.
FOOD PAIRING
This wine lends itself to a variety of pairings including Thai mango and lychee salad, Moroccan lamb and apricot tagine, and five-spice duck legs. Cheese lovers, pair this with your favourite pungent cheeses.
