We’ve partnered with Guildworks in Bloomfield to bring the captivating ‘Place of Becoming” installation from artist Susan Low-Beer to Closson Chase. Susan Low-Beer has exhibited internationally in Europe, United States, Japan and Korea, as well as nationally in both juried and invitational exhibitions and has been the recipient of numerous grants and awards.

In 1999 she received the Saidye Bronfman Award for Excellence in the Crafts and in 2000 was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. A postcard from the Knossos Palace in Crete, of a bull leaper, was the impetus for this work. Suspended by wire, in motion, the figures embody the quality of being independent of fate or necessity. The surface of each form, cells, blood, muscles, energy, convey the internal language of the body.

‘Place of Becoming’ is available to view in the Purple Barn from now until the end of the season.
