2009 Closson Chase Vineyard Pinot Noir VQA Prince Edward County

As they start to dig their roots more deeply into the remarkable limestone soils of Hillier, our pinot noir vines are offering better and better results, as this solid vintage demonstrates. The remarkable balance achieved in our 2009 pinots, thanks to some well-timed heat and sunshine, is obvious from the get-go, as beautiful ripe cherry and floral aromas jump out of the glass, with some tobacco and earthy notes (mushroom, autumn leaves) adding a touch of complexity. With its great depth and multilayered feel, this ripe and elegant pinot is already open, well-defined and immediately satisfying. Cellaring should yield an interesting evolution, but it may be hard to resist this seductive wine for very long.
